In addition to volunteering and donating, board service is an important way everyday people are working to to help keep Whatcom nonprofits strong. Serving on the board of directors of a nonprofit organization can be challenging and fulfilling. Here you'll find tips on finding a board to join, as well as ideas about how to both contribute and get a meaningful experience as a board member.
- To find a board position that's right for you, contact a nonprofit doing work you're interested in, and ask to talk with the board chair or executive director about openings.
- The Whatcom Volunteer Center has frequent Board 101 trainings, which are great for first-timers and as a refresher for those who have served on boards for some time.
