In Whatcom County, people are generous with all of their resources. They share their time and expertise, volunteering and serving on boards of directors to help keep nonprofits strong and vibrant. Equally important, they invest their financial resources in improving our community. For some, it’s a family practice.
Here are ways you can make a difference through cash and in-kind giving:
- Donate directly to nonprofit doing work that’s important to you and improves the quality of life in Whatcom County.
- Participate in your workplace United Way campaign, or volunteer to start one. The United Way supports "safety net" of human services at dozens of community groups, including over 40 programs in education, health and financial stability.
- The Whatcom Community Foundation offers a variety of ways for you to make an impact, from making an unrestricted gift to donating to field-of-interest funds to support the environment, youth, the arts and other issues, or establishing a donor advised fund for you, your family or even your business. The Whatcom Community Foundation also sponsors special initiatives, such as the Campaign for the Arts and the New Ferndale Public Library.
- Since 1982, St. Luke's Foundation has been supporting local efforts that improve health for people in Whatcom County. If your interests include healthcare access, health professions, disability issues, end of life care, and more, you may find a partner in philanthropy in St. Luke's.
